Upazila elections: Voting rate decreases in second phase

Staff Correspondent: Voting rate has decreased in the second phase of Upazila Parishad elections.

The second phase of the Upazila Parishad elections saw a voter turnout of 41. 25 per cent which was 43.32 percent in the first phase.

Sources in the Election Commission Secretariat informed this to journalists on Thursday.

In the second phase, 79.67 per cent votes were cast in Mahalcchari in Khagrachhari. Another upazila of Khagrachari district, Dighinala saw a voter turnout of 78.12 per cent. The lowest voter turnout was recorded at 8.43 per cent in South Surma Upazila of Sylhet. Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet saw 9.38 per cent turnout.
