Polls to 87 upazilas on March 10

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the first phase of the upazila polls to be held on March 10.

EC secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed announced the schedule in a press conference held at media centre of Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agaron on Sunday afternoon.

According to the schedule, voting in first phase in 87 upazilas of 12 districts under 4 divisions will be held on March 10. The last date of submitting nomination paper is February 11. Nomination papers will be scrutinised on February 12 and the last date of nomination withdrawal is February 19.

According to the schedule announced, election will be held for reserve seats for women in the parliament on March 8.

The last date of nomination submission is February 11. Scrutinising is on February 12. The last date of nomination withdrawal is February 16.

During the briefing, EC secretary urged BNP to participate in the upcoming upazila polls.
