Uttarkhan gas fire death toll rises to 5

Staff Correspondent: The death toll from the fire incident in the capital's Uttarkhan area has climbed to five after two more victims died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The deceased Purnima, 35 and Dablu, 33, succumbed to their burn injuries at the burn unit of DMCH on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning respectively.

Bachchu Mia, sub-inspector of DMCH police outpost confirmed the matter.

Earlier on Saturday, a fire broke out at a flat on the ground floor of a building in the area around 4 am due to the leakage in the supply gas pipeline, leaving eight people of a family critically injured.
