Vegetable prices go up in city

Staff Correspondent: The price of vegetables went up due to lack of supply against rising demand on Friday.

Prices of the most of the vegetables have increased by at least Tk 5-10 over the week in the city markets.

Visiting several retail kitchen markets in Dhaka including Jigatola, Rayerbagh, the reporter found that vendors were selling some vegetables for prices that were high compared to the last week.

Eggplant of different qualities was selling at Tk 55-60 a kg, an increase by Tk 5-10 from a week ago.

Cucumber was selling at Tk 80 a kg, Tomato at Tk 90 a kg, bitter gourds at Tk 60 a kg, Parwal at Tk 40 a kg, Yardlong bean at Tk 55 and bean at Tk 120 a kg.

Besides, green chilli was selling at Tk 100 a kg, Papaya at Tk 40 per kg, carrot at Tk 80 a kg, potato at Tk 28 a kg, cabbage at Tk 40 per piece.

The price of broiler chicken was unchanged. Locally bred hens were selling at Tk 210-300 a kg. The prices of beef and mutton remained unchanged.
