Verdict against Ghoramara Aziz among 6 today

Staff Correspondent: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)  is set to deliver its verdict today (Wednesday) in the war crimes case against six Gaibandha men, including former Jamaat-e-Islami MP Abu Saleh Mohammad Abdul Aziz Mia alias Ghoramara Aziz.

A three-member bench led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam will hand down the verdict after 11:00am today. Earlier on Tuesday the court fixed the date for the verdict.

Earlier on October 23, the tribunal concluded the hearing of arguments from both sides and kept the verdict pending for any day.

The five other accused in the war crimes case are Md Ruhul Amin Manju, 61, Md Abdul Latif, 61, Abu Muslim Mohammad Ali, 59, Md Nazmul Huda, 60, and Md Abdur Rahim Mia, 62.

Of them Md Abdul Latif is now in detention following arrest, but the rest accused are on the run.

The six were charged with genocide, killing, illegal confinement, looting, arson attack, torture and other crimes during War of Liberation in 1971. The offences were committed in Gaibandha Sadar and Sundarganj Upazilas.
