Verdict on Bobby Hajjaj’s party registration Sunday

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has fixed October 21 (Sunday) to deliver its judgment over the writ petition of the registration application of Bobby Hajjaj’s party National Democratic Movement (NDM).

The HC bench comprising of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal on Tuesday passed the order, after completion of final hearing in this regard.

Senior lawyer Barrister Akhtar Imam and Barrister Rashna Imam moved for the writ petition while Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul in the court.

Bobby Hajjaj submitted his application to the Election Commission on December 23, 2017, but it did not dispose the application as he had shortage of some relevant papers.

The EC on April 8 this year asked Bobby Hajjaj to submit the papers by April 22. Accordingly, Hajjaj submitted the papers to the commission on April 18.

As the application was not disposed even after receiving the necessary papers, Bobby Hajjaj submitted the writ petition to the HC challenging the EC’s inaction.
