Voting at 22 centres postponed

Staff Correspondent: Election Commission Secretary Halal Uddin Ahmed said the voting for the 11th parliamentary elections has been held peacefully across the country except some sporadic incidents.

The EC secretariat said this at the beginning of announcement of the polls results at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Sunday evening.

Voting at the 22 polling centres has been postponed due to the violence reported during the polls, Halal Uddin said.

The law enforcement agencies have been ordered to launch an investigation into the reports of violence, he added.

While announcing the results of a centre in Rangpur, he said the voting has been held in peaceful atmosphere which can be of pride.
