Voting in Kurigram-3 by-polls underway

Kurigram Correspondent: Voting in the by-election to Kurigram-3 constituency is underway in a peaceful manner.

The polling that started around 8:00am will continue till 4:00pm without any break. However, the presence of voters was few till 9:00am.

A total of 363,075 voters will cast their votes through 159 polling stations in the constituency comprised of one municipality and 16 unions. There are 159 voting centers including 69 important polling centres.

A total of 13 platoon BGB personnel, 40 team of RAB and a huge number of police and Ansar men have been deployed in the poling areas to ensure free, fair and neutral election.



Awami League backed candidate Prof M A Matin and Jatya Party candidate Prof Dr. Akkas Ali Sarker are contesting the polls.

Returning officer G M Sahatab Uddin said, "The voting is underway in four tiers of security system. No untoward incident is reported yet."
