Wages, Eid bonus paid to all garment workers

Economic Correspondent: Salaries and bonuses have been paid to workers of all garment factories under Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, said BGMEA President Md Siddiqur Rahman.

The BGMEA president came up with the statement while addressing a press conference held to discuss the entire situation of garment sector ahead of Eid at its office in the capital on Saturday noon.

Siddiqur Rahman said, “Festival allowance has been given to workers of 100 percent of garment factories. Besides, salaries and allowances for month May have also been paid to workers of 100 percent of garment factories. Advance salary for month June has been paid to workers of 98 percent of garment factories. The remaining 2 percent of garment factories will be given today.”

Until now, holiday has been given in 85 percent of garment factories and the remaining factories will be closed today, he said.

3,100 factories under the BGMEA and BKMEA are currently in operation.
