Walton Group champion again

Sports Desk: Walton group emerged unbeaten Champion in the 7th T20 Corporate Cricket beating Beximco Textile by 60 runs in final held on Friday at Dhaka Residential Model Ground in the city.

Winning toss, Walton skipper Uday Hakim chose to bat first and scored a fighting 216 for four wickets in 20 overs.

In reply, Beximco Textile managed to score 156 runs losing eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.

Walton's opener Sahel Mia scored 78 runs which is the highest in the innings while Mohammad Shazzad Hossain scored 41 runs.

Beside, Walton batsmen Nazel's 32 and Abdullah Al Mamun's 25 propelled the team to put a winning target against Beximco.  



Walton captain Uday Hakim dedicated their triumph to SM Nazrul Islam, founding chairman of the country's leading electrical, electronics and home appliances manufacturing and marketing company Walton group, who died recently.

Earlier, Walton secured their spot in final after a comfortable 85-run victory against First Security Islami Bank in the semi final match.

The tournament had begun on December 8, 2017 at Dhaka Residential Model School Ground with the participation of renowned corporate houses of the country.

Marcel, the local consumer-based electronics' goods manufacturer, was the title sponsor of seventh T20 Corporate Cricket. The co-sponsor of the series was Energypack.
