Walton a pride for country: Polok

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Walton, one of the leading electronics and electrical appliances manufacturers in Bangladesh, is a pride for the country, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Polok said.

The state minister came up with the statement while addressing a job fair organised at GEC Convention Center in Chittagong city on Thursday.

Assuring that an ICT hub will be made in Chittagong city, Polok said the government has taken an initiative to turn the port city into a ‘Silicon Valley’.

The government is working to completely implement ‘Vision-2021 and Digital Bangladesh’ dreamt by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.

Polok said the country has a demand of 20 lakh refrigerators in a year. Out of them, Walton itself produces 18 lakh which helps to fulfill the demand of the country adding that the local brand produces laptops as its product.

The company has launched a mobile production factory by which the country will be benefited most, he said.

Besides, the local brand is also playing a very important role in creating employment opportunities in the country, he added.
