Walton accords reception to SAFF U-18 champion girls

Sports Desk: The country's electronics giant Walton Group has accorded a reception to the Bangladesh U-18 Women’s Football team for their outstanding performance to seal the title of the First SAFF U-18 Women’s Tournament.

The girls in red and green, who became unbeaten champions in the tournament, offered the reception at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF)on Sunday afternoon.

BFF and SAFF President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin was the chief guest at the programme.

BFF Senior Vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, Chairman of the BFF Women’s Committee Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, Team Manager Amirul Islam Babu, BFF General Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, BFF Technical and Strategic Director Paul Thomas Smalley, Coach Golam Rabbani Chotan, Captain Mishrat Jahan Mousumi and Operative Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar were also present on the occasion.

Each of the 23 players of Bangladesh U-18 Women’s Football team was given a Walton Freeze while the team officials received smartphones.



Bangladesh clinched the six-nation maiden SAFF U-18 Women’s crown with all-win record beating Nepal by 1-0 goal in the final at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan on Sunday last.

Masura Parvin scored the match-winner for Bangladesh in the 49th minute by a header from close, off a long free kick of his team mate (1-0) to score the 24th goal for Bangladesh in the meet.

Siraj Jahan Shopna of Bangladesh was adjudged the highest scorer of the tournament scoring eight goals.
