Economic Reporter: Walton, one of the leading electronics and electrical appliances manufacturers in Bangladesh, has offered up to 10 percent discount on its fridges, televisions and home appliances aimed at giving some extra benefit to its customers on the occasion of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, which is scheduled to begin in September 2 next month.
The Walton authorities said, they are witnessing a sharp rise in both the demands and the sales of fridges, televisions and wide ranges of home appliances across the country following the imminent Eid-ul-Azha or Qurbani Eid. To this extent, Walton announced this discount offer with the aim of further increasing the Eid joy of valued customers.
They said, customers can enjoy the discount offer at all Walton Plazas and distributors outlets across the country till September 5 next month.
Amdadul Haque Sarker, marketing head of Walton, said, they set a target of selling out around five lakh unit of fridges all over the country between the period Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha. To meet that target, massive preparations had been undertaken from production process to marketing strategies just after the Eid-ul-Fitr, he said adding, production of huge power saving inverter fridges, non-frost refrigerators, frost refrigerators and freezers had been increased at Walton Hi-Tech Industries. And, sufficient stocks of fridges have been created at all sales points so that there is no supply scarcity on the eve of Qurbani Eid.
As a result, they sold out total of 1,04,547 units of fridges on the first date of the current month, which was a record of selling out more than one lakh units of fridges in a single day in the local market, he noted.
“Now, we are very nearest to the target of selling out 5 lakh fridge, and thus optimistic about surpassing the target at the end of the current month as the sales of fridges usually go up remarkably across the country on the eve of Qurbani Eid,” he said.
The company’s marketing officials informed that Walton is now manufacturing and marketing a total of 128 models of frost, non-frost and deep fridges all over the country. Among of these, 84 models are of frost fridges; 27 models of non-frost fridges, of which 16 models are of huge power saving inverter technology’s compressor based fridge; and 17 models of freezers.
They also said, Walton is producing and marketing total 76 models of LED televisions with unique designs and features. In addition, Walton has 32-inch, 43-inch, 49-inch and 55-inch smart televisions in the local Bangladesh, they said adding, they released total 8 new models of televisions on the occasion of Qurbani Eid, including 2 models of 24-inch LED TV; 2 models of 43-inch LED TV; and 4 models of 32-inch smart televisions with black and silver colours.
Md. Abdul Bari, marketing head of Walton televisions, claimed that no other brand is displaying and selling out such a wide range of designs of LED televisions in the local market.
As a result, the demands for Walton televisions have been increasing from the beginning of the current year, he said.
Reflection of the increased demands was witnessed in the recent sales of televisions, he added. The sales of Walton televisions jumped up by 72 percent in the first seven months (January to July) of the current year compared to the sales in the corresponding period of the previous year.
