Walton receives highest VAT paying award

Economic Reporter: The country’s electronics giant Walton received the first prize under Highest VAT Payer at the just concluded Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF-2018) on Sunday.

In addition, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited achieved the second prize under the Best Premier Pavilion Category for its eye-catching and beautiful 3-storey Walton Pavilion at this year’s expo.

Walton has also been adjudged as the best taxpayer, like in the past, depositing the highest Tk 38,19,230. In the last DITF-17, Walton awarded the first prize of highest VAT payer by depositing Tk 36,03,899 to the government exchequer.

As the chief guest, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed handed over the crests of the prize of Best Premier Pavilion Category to Walton Group’s Executive Director SM Zahid Hasan while Commerce Secretary Shubhashis Bose handed over the Highest VAT payer award to Walton Group’s Executive Director Md. Humayun Kabir at the concluding ceremony of the DITF-18 at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Agargaon in the capital on Sunday.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce Ministry Tajul Islam Chowdhury and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin attended the DITF-18 closing ceremony as special guests. The function was chaired by Commerce Secretary Shubhashis Bose.

In his immediate reaction, Humayun Kabir said: “The awards will encourage us in bringing new technologies based high-tech appliances at affordable rates. Getting the award of Highest VAT payer at the DITF for the last 13 years proved that Walton has been turned into the apex brand of Bangladesh’s people.

SM Zahid Hasan thanked both the Export Promotion Bureau and the Ministry of Commerce for giving such awards. Customers are the big partner of our awards.”
