Water levels at 75 river stations fall

Staff Correspondent: Flood situation in the country is improving as almost all rivers except Surma and Kushiyara rivers are in falling trend.

Water levels at 75 river stations, monitored by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC), have been recorded fall while 14 stations marked rise and 17 were flowing above danger level.

Among the 90 monitored water level stations, one was registered steady, according to a bulletin issued by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) on Saturday.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Ganges-Padma rivers are in falling trend, while the Kushiyara river is in rising trend.

The Surma river is in steady state, it said.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Ganges-Padma rivers are likely to continue falling in next 72 hours.

The Surma is likely to rise and the Kushiyara is likely to continue rising in next 24 hours.

A total of 51 mm rainfall was recorded at Habiganj station, 35.8 mm at Teknaf, 35 mm at MoulviBazar and 35 at Manu Railway Bridge during the last 24 hours ending at 6:00am today.
