Water levels of 81 rivers rise

Staff Correspondent: Water levels at 81 river stations monitored by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked increase while 6 stations recorded fall.

Among the 90 monitored water level stations, two stations have been registered steady and 17 river stations were recorded flowing above danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said on Saturday.

The Dharla at Kurigram, the Teesta at Dalia, the Jamuneswari, the Jamuna at Bahadurabad and the Sirajganj, the Tangon, Surma at Kanaighat and Sunamganj, the Kushiyara at Sheola, the Sarigowain at Sarighat, the Manu at Manu Rly Br, the Khowai at Ballah, the Dhalai at Kamalganj, the Bhugai at Nakuagaon, the Someswari at Durgapur and the Kangsha at Jariajanjail are flowing above danger level 32cm, 25cm, 6cm, 4cm, 10cm, 65cm, 78cm, 70cm, 12cm, 49cm, 7cm, 135cm, 195cm, 13cm, 236cm, 35 and 105cm respectively.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna, Ganges-Padma and Surma-Kushiyara are in rising trend.

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 9 am on Saturday. 

A total of 168 millimetres (mm) rainfall was recorded at Bhairab Bazar, 155.5 mm at Narayanhat, 150 mm at Lorergarh, 140 mm at Panchagarh, 132 mm at Dalia, 125 mm at Sunamganj, 116.3 mm at Ramgarh, 105.6 mm at Narsingdi, 103 mm at Brahmanbaria, 85.7 mm at Panchpukuria, 70 mm at Bogra, 69 mm at Chilmari, 64 mm at Sylhet, 61 mm at Gaibandha, 59 mm at Barguna, 55.8 mm at Teknaf, 50 mm at Rangpur and 50mm at Dewanganj.
