Water transport workers go on strike indefinite strike

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Water transport workers are observing an indefinite strike to press home their 11-point demand, causing sufferings to passengers.

The workers started the strike from 12:00am on Tuesday. As a result, the movements of goods laden transports were halted in Khulna and Mongla sea ports.

The demands include taking action against terrorism and extortion, stopping of workers' harassment, full implementation of pay scale 2016, providing Tk 1.0 million compensation for any injury of a worker, and cracking down robbery on the river routes.

Delwar Hossain, general secretary of the federation's Khulna zone the strike is being observed unanimously following the central command.
