Waterlogging: Sufferings mount for Ctg dwellers

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Downpour under the impact of monsoon inundated many streets of the port city causing suffering to the city dwellers on Tuesday. 

The waterlogging due to heavy rainfall has caused inundation of city streets. As a result, thousands of city dwellers are facing serious trouble.

The waterlogging caused severe traffic jams on major thoroughfares. Many of the port city streets as well as low-lying areas, including Bahaddarhat, Muradpur, Sholoshahar Gate No. 2, Chawkbazar, Agrabad CDA, Baklia and other areas went under knee-deep to waist-deep water.

Jahangir Alam, a resident of Chawkbazar area, told risingbd.com, "Knee-deep water is everywhere. Even, there is no available transport on roads.



Afazur Rahman, a dweller of Agrabad, CDA said, "Agrabad CDA seems to me a river now. There is no alternative of boat in this area to move."

Chattogram Patenga Met Office Officer Mohammad Rubel said that the city area recorded 80 MM rainfall this morning.
