World Environment Day being observed

Desk Report: The World Environment Day is being observed in the country as elsewhere around the world on Monday with a view to creating awareness of the importance of environment and nature.
The theme of this year’s day is ‘Connecting People to Nature’.
The Environment and Forests Ministry, and various non-government and green organisations have taken elaborate programmes to mark the day.
Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) will arrange a discussion at its auditorium in the capital where Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain Manju is expected to be present.
Bangladesh Poribesh Bachao Andolan (Poba) will organise a seminar on nature, environment and biodiversity conservation and development at its conference hall in the day.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have issued separate messages, calling upon all to come forward to protect the environment and biodiversity.
