Risingbd Desk: The World Food Day will be observed in the country today with an emphasis on forging a technology based sustainable agriculture system for building a poverty and hunger free country by 2030, reports BSS.

The day will be observed globally with a view to tackling the poverty and hunger in line with a call for increased action to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 set by the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations and 130 other countries across the world.

The theme of the day is ‘Work paves the way for future, work to build a hunger free world by 2030.’ On the eve of the day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in separate messages wished the day’s programmes a success.

In a message, the president called upon all including scientists and extension workers to pay their attention to inventing stress tolerant crop varieties, technology and extension suitable to adopt with climate change.

He suggested that a safe food zone be built through strengthening the rural agriculture dependent economy by taking into consideration the gradual increase of population and the consequence of climate change.
