Staff Correspondent: A writ petition has been filed challenging legality of Bangladesh Cricket Board's proposed Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Barrister Shafique Ahmed on behalf of architect Mubasshar Hossain filed the writ petition to the High Court (HC) division concern on Sunday.

Earlier, a legal notice was served asking the current Board of Directors of the Cricket Board to refrain from holding AGM of the board following recent Supreme Court verdict.

Mubasshar claimed that according to the Supreme Court verdict, the BCB has no legal rights to call Annual General Meeting. However, BCB is planning to host the AGM on October 2 at a city hotel. That’s why he sent the legal notice to seven persons and organizations including BCB president to stop all kinds of official activities in this regard.

The notice said that BCB will have to stop annual and special meetings within 72 hours upon receiving the notice.
