Writ seeking stay on DNCC polls: Court order Wednesday

Staff Correspondent: A hearing on Tuesday ended on the writ petitions seeking stay on the process for holding election to the mayoral post for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on February 26.

The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed fixed tomorrow (Wednesday) for passing orders on the petitions after holding hearing today.

Advocate Kamrul Haque Siddiqui and Barrister Mustafizur Rahman Khan stood for the writ petition while Deputy Attorney General Mokhlesur Rahman represented the state during the hearing in the court.

Jahangir Alom, chairman of Berait union parishad, and Ataur Rahman, chairman of Bhatara union parishad, today filed the two petitions challenging the legality of the schedule fixed by the Election Commission (EC) for holding the polls to the DNCC mayor post.
