Writ seeks compensation for Chawkbazar fire victims

Staff Correspondent: A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking its directive for providing Tk 30 lakh as compensation to the fire victims of Chawkbazar.
Advocate Yunus Ali Akand filed the writ petition on Sunday.
The HC bench led by Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan would hear the petition.
In the petition, Yunus Ali also challenged the inactivity of the government over chemical godown removal from Chawkbazar.
On February 20, at least 67 people were killed and around 41 others injured on Wednesday night after a fire broke out at a chemical warehouse and raged through several nearby buildings.
