Youth arrested for attempting to rape in train

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: A youth allegedly attempted to rape a teenage girl in a toilet of a running train in Rajshahi, railway police sources said.

The incident occurred in ‘Jha’ Coach of Silk City Express on Thursday night. Later, police arrested the youth Mominul Islam, 26, hailed from Chapainawabganj sadar.

Assistant Sub-inspector Uzzal Chandra Biswas said, the teenage girl went to the toilet when the train was crossing Iswardi Bypass station. At one stage, the youth entered into the toilet forcefully and tried to rape the girl. Meanwhile, hearing screaming, passengers informed police and rescued the victim.

Confirming the matter, Rajshahi railway police station officer-in-charge Saeed Iqbal said a case will be filed in this regard.
