Youth beaten to death on suspicion of theft

Staff Correspondent: A youth was beaten to death on suspicion of theft at Badda in the capital on early Saturday.

The deceased was known as Nur Alam, 28. Police held several people in this connection.

Yeasin Gazi, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Operation) of Badda Police Station, said, “Alam was tied up with a tree and beaten to death on suspicion of theft by workers of Khan Kitchen Restaurant of Badda’s Beraid area early Saturday when he entered the hotel. Being informed, Alam’g mother rushed to the spot and brought him home. Later, he succumbed to his injuries. A case was filed in this connection.”

“Several workers of the hotel were held for interrogation into the incident. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy,” he added.
