Youth shot dead in Ctg: Cop among 3 detained

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Police detained three people including an Sub-Inspector (SI) following the murder of a youth in Sitakunda upazila of the district.
The detainees are-Sitakunda model police station SI Nazmul Huda, Constable Abul Kashem and Ansar member Ismail Hossain.
Confirming the matter, Chittagong district Additional Police Super (Sadar) Rejaul Masud said the three were arrested following the murder case over a death of youth.
According to the case statement, ASI Nazmul Huda, constable Abul Kashem and a police source in plain dress went to Telipara of Bhatirai to conduct a raid on Wednesday night. But, following an altercation with some local youths, SI Nazmul Huda opened fire, at one stage, on victim Saiful Islam from a point-blank range, leaving him critically injured.
Later, the youth was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The three policemen were detained from Chittagong district police on Friday night. Earlier they were withdrawn from their duties.
