Zubaida Rahman asked to surrender before court

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, regarding a case of concealing information about assets.
At the same time, she has been directed to surrender before the trial court within 8 weeks.
A bench headed by Justice Obaidul Hasan passed the order rejecting the petition on Wednesday.
On behalf of Zubaida Rahman, senior lawyer AJ Mohammad Ali participated in the hearing. Barrister Kaiser Kamal and Raghib Rouf Chowdhury helped him.
On the other hand, Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the ACC.
In 2007, the ACC filed the case against former prime minister Khaleda Zia’s elder son Tarique, Zubaida and his mother-in-law Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu on charges of concealing information on assets.
Tarique faces charges of earning around Tk 48.2 million from undisclosed sources and concealing information on the assets.
His wife and mother-in-law were sued for assisting him and concealing information.
According to the case detail, Zubaida received two fixed deposit receipts (FDR) worth Tk 3.5 million from Tarique.
