Khaleda unveils Vision 2030

Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has unveiled her party`s Vision-2030 to turn Bangladesh into a higher middle income country.
She was addressing the inaugural session of the party`s sixth national council at Institution of Engineers` Bangladesh on Saturday noon.
The BNP chief said Bangladesh would be the higher middle income country by 2030 and the per capita income would be $5,000.
She also said creative and effective initiatives would be taken to take the economic growth rate in double digit.
Khaleda said her party has finalised a draft of Vision 2030 which will be okayed in the council.
She also said the next election manifesto would be prepared on the basis of the Vision 2030.
Stating that her party does not believe in one day`s democracy, the former premier said, "BNP wants to emphasise public expectations."
She also said democracy and development are supplementary to each other, not an alternative.
"If democracy remains absent in a country, corruption and misrule dominate the society," she added.
