10,000 cops to ensure security for Tigers

Pakistan’s Police (Operations Wing) have chalked out an intimidating security plan for the impending three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The series will start from January 24, with all three matches scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

As per the security plan, more than 10,000 police officers and officials including 17 SPs, 48 DSPs, 134 Inspectors, 592 Upper subordinates will perform security duties. They will be trying their best to make sure foolproof security of the players as well as citizens visiting the cricket stadium.

Three layers security will be provided to the citizens who will only be allowed to enter the stadium after complete checking. Prohibited items will be banned to bring on these matches by the citizens.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations Wing) Lahore Rai Babar Saeed said they will ensure all the necessary security to conduct the matches of T20I series in peaceful atmosphere.

He said, “We will also ensure complete implementation on SOPs fixed regarding security. Round the clock monitoring of the residential places of teams, matches and movements in and round the cricket stadium will be ensured through the CCTV cameras.”

After lengthy discussions between Bangladesh Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board with Bangladesh not so keen in touring Pakistan due to security concerns, the tour schedule was finally agreed on January 14.

As the tour itinery has been split into three legs, the three-match T20I series will begin from January 24, while the Tigers will travel Pakistan twice more to complete the full series which includes two Tests and a one-off ODI match.
