14-party writes to Menon asking to explain on poll remarks

The Awami League-led 14-party alliance has asked its ally Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon to explain his recent remarks on the 11th parliamentary election.

A letter has been sent to Menon after the alliance held a meeting at the AL's Dhanmondi offices on Thursday with spokesperson and AL Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim in the chair.

The letter reads “The meeting of the 14-party alliance discussed elaborately about the remarks you have given in Barisal recently on the national election held on December 30, 2018 … your statement is not acceptable by any means”.

“Your untrue remarks have created confusion among the public in such time when democracy of the country led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is moving forward and it also go against the 14-party alliance's views. Thus, [we are] requesting you to give an explanation about your election-related remarks”, the letter also says.
