Zilqad month begins Monday

The holy Zilqad month of 1444 hijri year will begin from Monday (May 22) as no moon was seen on the sky on Saturday (May 20) and that’s why the Shawal month will be 30 days.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the conference room of Baitul Mukarram here on Saturday evening.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan presided over the meeting.
Director General (Additional Secretary) of Islamic Foundation Dr Md Bashirul Alam, Joint Secretary of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry M Nazrul Islam, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Abdul Kader Sheikh, Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet Division M Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, Senior Deputy Chief Information Officer Abdul Jalil, among others, attended the meeting.
