Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has said, “We did not take power, we took responsibility”.
“We took the responsibility at a difficult time and faced many challenges. The country went to the edge of a ditch. Especially, financial management had become very weak.”
The Adviser made the comment at a post-budget press conference held at the capital’s Osmani Auditorium on Tuesday (June 3).
Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud, Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan and NBR Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan were present at the time.
The financial adviser said, “After taking office, we have brought about a fairly stable situation with the cooperation of everyone. In continuation of this, we have announced the proposed budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year.”
The adviser also stressed that the budget’s primary goal is to enhance people’s quality of life. “We have prioritised making everyday life more comfortable for citizens — improving the standard of living, not just economic statistics,” he added.
