Travel ban imposed on Shakib Al Hasan, 25 others

A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Magura-1 seat former lawmaker also cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and 25 others over allegations of corruption.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday (June 16) following two separate appeals of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC public relations officer Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter.
The others facing the travel ban are - Deputy Registrar of the Cooperatives Department Md. Abul Khair alias Hiru, Kazi Sadia Hasan, Abul Kalam Madbar, Kanika Afroz, Mohammad Bashar, Sajed Madbar, Aleya Begum, Kazi Fuad Hasan, Kazi Farid Hasan, Shirin Akter, Javed A Matin, Md Jahed Kamal, Md Humayun Kabir and Tanvir Nizam, and private organization (NGO) Uddipan’s former Chairman Dr Mihir Kanti Majumdar, former Executive Director and CEO Bidyut Kumar Bashu, former vice chairman Jakia K Hasan, former treasurer Dr Md Golam Ahad, former member Md Mahbubur Rahman, former member Md Nazrul Islam Khan, Nahid Sultan, Bhabatosh Nath, Dr Abu Jamil Faisal and Shawkat Hossain.
The National Identity Cards (NID) of the last 10 of them have been ordered to be blocked. ACC Deputy Assistant Director Md. Roknuzzaman applied for a ban on the 10 people leaving the country.
