Drugs coming from USA in parcels

High-quality processed international cannabis and other drugs are entering Bangladesh through postal consignments.  Later, members of the international drug trafficking syndicate distribute those through the state-run post office.

On Monday (April 22), the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) unearthed such an international drug trafficking syndicate and arrested their three members with Tk 1 crore worth of cannabis.

Three arrested three men were trying to distribute those through the state-run post office.

DNC Director General Mustakim Billah Faruqui briefed newsmen about their operation at DNC headquarters in the capital on Tuesday.

On a tip-off, DNC members seized the narcotics consignment on Sunday at the Bangladesh Post Office headquarters in the capital. Later, based on the receiver’s data mentioned on the parcel. 

DNC arrested three youths: Rasel Mia, 20, Ramjan Mia, 21, and Mohammad Imran alias Raaj, 20, from Dhaka district’s Ashulia area.

The arrestees admitted their involvement and were engaged in distributing narcotics in the capital for a long time, DNC said.

The seized parcel was sent from the Maryland state of the US, and contained 1,350 grams tetrahydrocannabinol mixed kush, 252 grams cannabis chocolate and 600 grams of cannabis cake.
