Voter turnout to be more than national polls: EC Anisur

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman has said that voter turnout in the Upazila Parishad Elections will be more than recently held national elections.

The Election Commissioner came up with the remark while exchanging views with the officers of local administration and law enforcing agencies marking the sixth Upazila Parishad Election in Cumilla on Tuesday.

He directed the returning officers and local officers to be serious during the elections.

Regarding the influence of ministers and MPs in the elections, he said that actions will be taken immediately if complaints are raised. The EC has the power to cancel the vote in case of irregularities.
