Air Force training aircraft crashes in Chattogram

A training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force (YAK130) crashed into the Karnaphuli River on Thursday (9 May).

The incident took place around 10:45am.

The two pilots of the aircraft, however, ejected with the parachute, Chattogram fire service control room confirmed.

The pilots are - Wing Commander Sohan and Squadron Leader Asif.

Fire service said two vehicles were seen at the spot. Besides, the Airforce’s rescue unit took part in the rescue operation.

Ibrahim Khalil, Public Relations Officer of Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport said that Air Force training aircraft YAK130 crashed in the terminal's bay area shortly after takeoff.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the two pilots were rescued. However, one of them is in critical condition.
