Court orders withdrawal of SMC Plus drinks from markets

A court in Dhaka has ordered the withdrawal of SMC Plus electrolyte drinks from the market.

DSCC Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court's Magistrate Alaul Akbar passed the order on Sunday morning (May 19).

Dhaka south city corporation (DSCC) food safety inspector Kamrul Hasan confirmed the matter.

The court also fined Tanveer Sinha owner of ACME Agrovet and Beverages Ltd Tk16,00,000 on charges of unauthorised marketing and sale of electrolyte drinks.

Earlier, Tanveer Sinha surrendered to the court following a warrant for his arrest. Meanwhile, he informed the court and said it happened without his knowledge. He apologized for this mistake.
