65-day fishing ban in sea starts Monday

The government imposed a 65-day ban on fishing in the Bay of Bengal from Monday (May 20) to increase the country’s marine fishery resources.

Fisheries and Livestock Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Sunday (May 19).

The ministry said the catching of all kinds of fish through water vessels and boats is restricted till July 23. During this period, monitoring will be intensified at navigation entrances, and fishing boats will be completely prohibited.

A fishing community person will get a total of 86 kilogrammes of rice during the ban period.
