Today is our Eid: Jannatul

Eid ended many days ago. But, the Eid was a sad one for the sailors and their families of the ship 'MV Abdullah' that was captured by Somali pirates. Eid has arrived in Jannatul Ferdous's family today as her husband has returned home after being freed from pirates.

Jannatul Ferdous, wife of sailor GS Nooruddin, was waiting for his husband at Chattogram Port jetty from Tuesday morning. Expressing her feelings, Jannatul said, “Today is our happy day. I will meet my husband today after a long time. We were in a lot of anxiety while he was under pirates”.

The Bangladeshi-flagged vessel MV Abdullah, which was released by Somali pirates recently, anchored at Kutubdia anchorage on Monday evening.

23 sailors arrived in Chattogram Port jetty at around 3.43pm on Tuesday by another ship ‘MV Jahan Moni’.

On 12 March, MV Abdullah, carrying 55,000 tonnes of coal from Mozambique to Dubai, was captured by Somali pirates, along with 23 sailors.  MV Abdullah was freed on April 14.
