Ishraque sent to jail after bail denied

Ishraque Hossain, member of the International Affairs Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was sent to jail after a Dhaka court rejected his bail petition in a case filed with Paltan Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order rejecting the bail petition on Sunday (May 19).

Earlier, Ishraque Hossain surrendered to the court and sought bail in the case.

Taherul Islam Tawhid, lawyer of the petitioner confirmed the matter.

According to the case statement, during a protest program, leaders and activists of BNP started to hurl brick chips aiming policemen on October 28, 2023. At one stage, a clash took place between policemen and BNP activists from Kakrail intersection to Arambagh area. A cop was killed and 41 policemen were injured in the clash.
