India, China, Russia, Belarus keen to import Rajshahi mangoes

Agriculture Minister Dr Abdus Shahid has said India, China, Russia and Belarus are very keen to import Rajshahi mangoes.

The minister said this while exchanging views with farmers at Kumorpur village under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi on Friday noon.

He said a Chinese delegation will come to see Rajshahi mangoes soon. He directed some officials to fix the right price of mangoes through discussion with this group properly.

The minister visited an orchard where mangoes have been grown with the help of World Bank, DASCO, Coca-Cola Bangladesh Ltd and Syngenta using advanced technology.

Dr Abdus Shahid said mango production might decline this year. So, there is an apprehension of syndication centering the seasonal fruit.

All concerned should remain alert in this regard so that the farmers can get their due price. "We don't allow any syndicate,"
he added.

He urged the journalists to furnish media reports against the syndication so that they could be brought to book as early as possible.
