3 KNF members killed in gunfight with army

Three members of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) were killed in an exchange of fire with a team of Bangladesh Army in Debachhara area of Bandarban's Ruma upazila on Sunday (May 19).

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Meanwhile, the army recovered fire arms, radio communication equipment and ammunition from the spot.

Confirming the matter, Bandarban's Additional Superintendent of Police Hussain Md Rayhan Kajemi said three people were killed in an army-led joint operation in a KNF hideout in the area near Ronin Para of Ruma Upazila.

Police and local sources said the joint forces raided the KNF hideout in the deep forest of Debachhra this morning. Meanwhile, sounds of gunshots were heard for hours. Later, three bodies of KNF members were recovered from there.
