Sirajganj Correspondent: Around two lakh people of 36 unions under five upazilas of Sirajganj District have been affected in the recent flood.

The water level of Jamuna raised 19 centimeters in the last 24 hours. Roads and highways, croplands, houses, and educational institutes have been damaged; besides, agriculture, fisheries and other sectors have been hit directly or indirectly and suffered losses.  

Following the water level rise, new areas of Sirajganj are being flooded every day. People were seen taking shelter in dams, educational and religion institutions.   

Ranjit Kumar Sarkar, deputy assistant engineer of Sirajganj Water Development Board told risingbd that although the water level has risen on Friday morning but, it would decrease this evening.

Sirajgan acting Deputy Commissioner Md Tofazzal Hossain said, distribution of relief goods is underway.
