20 seek nomination to vie for boat in Dhaka city polls

Twenty aspirants have collected nomination forms to contest for Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporation polls scheduled to be held on January 30.

The voting would be casted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) during announcement of the schedule.

Two military officers will guard in every polling station, he said.

According to the schedule, the last date of submitting nomination paper for the polls is December 31. The nomination papers would be scrutinized on January 2 and the last day for withdrawing nomination is January 9.

Aspirants who collected AL nomination forms for DNCC are: 

1.    Incumbent Mayor Atiqul Islam
2.    Shahidullah Osmani (Joint General Secretary of Bangabandhu Foundation)
3.    Yaad Ali Fakir (Vice-President of Bhasantek Thana unit of Awami League)
4.    Md Jamal Bhuiyan (Executive member of Ward No 15 of Awami League)
5.    Md Kutub Uddin (Vice-President of Bangabandhu Foundation)
6.    Md Idris Ali Mollah (Vice-President of Awami League Greece unit)
7.    Salauddin Mahmud (Former Organising Secretary of Jubo League)
8.    Zerin Sultana Kanta (Member of religion affairs sub-committee)
9.    Helena Jahangir (Awami League supporter)
10.    Adam Tamiji Haque
11.    Khairul Majid (Jubo League Secretary)
12.    Mrs Rehana Farhad (Member of Jubo Women’s League)
