2,000 doctors, 6,000 nurses being recruited : Health minister

The government has planned to recruit 2,000 doctors and 6,000 nurses to combat the situation created by pandemic coronavirus or COVID-19.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque disclosed the information joining the daily online bulletin of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on coronavirus situation in Dhaka on Thursday (April 23).

The health minister said, "We have noticed that many of the doctors, nurses and health workers involved in treating COVID-19 patients are being infected with coronavirus. That’s why many of them are being sent into quarantine. Considering this, we have planned to recruit 2,000 new doctors and 6,000 nurses to combat the situation created by pandemic coronavirus following a directive of the Prime Minister."
