232 policemen infected with corona in last 24 hours

A total of 232 more policemen have been found to be infected with coronavirus or COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

57 policemen have also recovered from the disease within the same period.

This was confirmed in a statement issued from police headquarters on Saturday (May 2) noon.

A total of 741 policemen have been infected with coronavirus since the beginning out of them 356 are from Dhaka Metropolitan police. 1,250 police members have been in quarantine while 174 in isolation. Besides, five policemen have died after being infected with this virus, said the statement.

Contacted, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) of Police Headquarters (Media) Md Sohel Rana told risingbd that: "Police are working to fight coronavirus for the people of the country since the beginning. Steps have been taken to ensure financial assistance from police for the families of those police officials who have already died and are being infected with coronavirus."
