‘23,90,307 people evacuated to 14,636 shelters’

A total of 23,90,307 people have been evacuated to 14,636 cyclone shelters. Besides, 5,17,432 cattle were moved to safe places ahead of the extremely severe cyclonic storm ‘Amphan’.

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman said this in a briefing on Wednesday.

He said, “We have issued instructions not to leave a single person at risk.”

Cyclone Amphan, one of the worst storms over the Bay of Bengal in years, is likely to hit West Bengal-Bangladesh coast between this afternoon and evening, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
