3 Fu-Wang club staff on 8-day remand

A Dhaka court placed three staff of Fu-Wang club at Tejgaon of the capital on eight days of remand in two separate cases.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam gave the remand order on Saturday afternoon after the accused were produced before the court with a 20-day remand in the two cases.

Four days are in the case filed under Special Powers Act while the other four days are in Narcotics Control Act.

The accused were—cashier of the club Jahidur Rahman Miah, staff Chanchal Palma and Jeviar Jerry D. Konta.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a raid seized huge amounts of illegally imported cigarettes and cans of beer and alcohol from Fu Wang Club on September 25.

Later, the elite force also detained three staff during the drive from the club on charge of selling alcohol beyond the permissible limit of the license.
