32 BCL leaders relieved

The ruling Awami League-backed student body Bangladesh Chhatra League on Tuesday night relieved 32 leaders, including 18 vice-presidents, of their duties.

The decision was made as allegations raised by some leaders who failed to get desired positions in the central committee were proved against 21 and the rest 11 were willing to be relieved of their positions, said Chhatra League general secretary Lekhak Bhatacharjee.

A press release signed by acting president Al Nahean Khan Joy and general secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee said that the decision was made at an emergency meeting of executive body.

Lekhak said that the positions would be filled soon.

The 21, against whom the allegations were proved, are vice presidents Tanjil Bhuiyan Tanvir, Arefin Siddiq Sujon, Atikur Rahman Khan, Barkat Hossain Hawlader, Shahriar Kabir Biddut, Sadik Khan, Sohani Hasan Tithi, Munmun Nahar Boishakhi, Abu Sayed (SUST), Ruhul Amin, Rakib Uddin, Sohel Rana and Ismail Hossain Topu, office secretary Ahsan Habib, religious secrecy Taj Uddin, deputy office secretaries Momin Shahriar and Mahmud Abdullah Bin Munshi, deputy cultural secretaries BM Lipi Akter and Afrin Laboni, assistant secretaries Samia Sarker and Rony Chowdhury.

The 11 leaders who sought relieve were vice presidents Aminul Islam Bulbul, SM Toufiqul Hasan Sagor, BM Shahriar Hasan, Hafizur Rahman and SM Hasan Atik, health secretary Shahriar Ferdaus, deputy health secretaries Ratul Sikder and Shafiul Sajib, deputy publicity secretary Sizad Arefin Shawon, deputy library secretary Rushi Chowdhury and assistant secretary Anjumanara Anu.
