‘5,000 buses to be introduced in Dhaka’

Khandaker Enayet Ullah, secretary general of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners' Association said, 5,000 buses will be introduced in Dhaka to bring discipline in capital’s transport system through bus route rationalization.  

Enayet Ullah made the disclosure while addressing a meeting at Mohakhali Bus terminal in Dhaka on Tuesday.

He said, “There will be 1,000 AC buses also. Passengers will have to collect tickets from ticket counters. Besides, smart cards system will be available. As a result, a disciplined transport system will be introduced in the capital.”

“There will be no racing competition if bus route rationalization committee start working,” he added.

Mohakhali Bus Terminal Owners Association president Hazi Abul Kalam presided over the meeting where Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, DNCC Chief Executive Abdul Hye, Workers Federation general secretary Osman Ali and others attended.
